is it better to do informal now or wait to see if more sororitys do it in the fall

I would say better to do it now. You will have more time in Greek life. Why miss an entire semester? And, if you go for it and don't get a bid, you can always have another shot at it. But, if you sit out, and don't get a bid in the fall you are really screwed.
