2019 sorority ranks for pnms (legit)

by: Panhel

Lots of freshman are preparing for spring recruitment. So, here are the current ranks to consider.

Kappa/KD/Pi Phi/APhi
Gphi/Theta
AXiD/Zeta/DG/ DZ
AOPi/SDT/Phi Sig
Sig Kap/ ADPi/ DPhiE

This spring's recruitment will show how many changes are happening with the loss of 3 chapters that existed last year. But, this is how it should end up.

Keep in mind if you are rushing that all chapters are strong and the Greek experience is worth pursuing. Don't get discouraged if your only bids are in the bottom tier. Greek life is still hella fun!

So why post rankings at all if you’re saying that each sorority is strong and can be fun?

This is not how it should or will end up at all. With frats dropping like flies, sorority reps will be more about their members instead of social status/frat pairings now. Only thing certain is that ADPi and DPhiE will remain last. Theta dangerously close to falling from top. And everything from Zeta on down is in flux. DZ, Zeta and AOPi on decline, DG and Sig Kap on rise, Phi Sig holding its own as a newbie.

Registration has opened. PNMs are registering. For sure, they are thinking about what the process is like and where they might end up.

Tbh if you are a pnm and you are looking at ranks on here to base your decisions on which sororities you want during recruitment, then you should probably reconsider rushing. It’s pretty sad to me how Greek life has succumbed to this ranking nonsense to determine an organization’s value at psu. I ended up falling into this trap when I rushed last year and only cared about being in the “top tier sororitys”. I dropped recruitment after the 1st round cause I wasn’t getting called back to the “top tiers” I wanted. Had I remained open to every sorority, I think I would’ve had much more success and would have picked one that I actually felt like I could see myself in. You want to be in a sorority where you can see the girls as your best friends, not your plugs for frats. At the end of the day I’ve learned that every sorority has fun, has philanthropies and have sisterhood aspects and it’s up to you as the pnm to determine which sororities you connect with the most.

Two kinds of PNMs: 1) The ones who join a sorority for affirmation, and 2) the ones who join for sisterhood.

If looks, status, and partying within a very limited, select social circle are important to you, then you are the
first group -- go directly to top tier.

If you are looking for friendship and fun, but also want to have a life of your own, keep up with academics and other activities, and are fine with socializing with many different types of people, then middle and lowers are for you.

Not a judgement, one is not any better than the other, it's just how it is. It simply depends on what your priorities are and what you are after in becoming part of Greek life.
