why don’t the sororities have houses?

The sororities used to have houses. When the university wanted the land, they offered the sororities room in the dorms which they took to drop the liability and expense of maintaining the houses. It isn't cheap. Look at all the fraternities that have gotten into trouble hosting parties, etc. From a national's standpoint, it is much better not to have those issues.
