Bellarmine University - BU Overview

  About Greek Life at BU

Bellarmine University is a small Catholic liberal arts school in Louisville, Kentucky, with an undergraduate enrollment that sits well under 4,000 students. The Greek community here reflects that size — it's an intimate setup with just one fraternity and one sorority currently active on campus.

The fraternity present is Alpha Delta Gamma, a national Catholic fraternity that fits naturally into Bellarmine's identity and mission. On the sorority side, Phi Mu represents Panhellenic life at the school. Because the system is this small, there isn't the full council infrastructure you'd see at a larger university — no sprawling IFC, NPHC, or MGC apparatus. It's a more streamlined setup.

Recruitment here is low-key compared to what you'd see at a big state school. There's no massive Greek Row, no house-lined streets, and the process tends to be more personal and conversation-based than the high-volume rush events you'd find at a SEC or ACC school. Chapters at Bellarmine generally don't have dedicated chapter houses in the traditional sense, which keeps the experience more integrated into the broader campus community rather than separated from it.

Because the school leans heavily on its Catholic Jesuit-influenced values and service orientation, the organizations here tend to reflect that culture — philanthropy and community involvement are a natural part of how chapters present themselves. Greek life is one part of campus social life at Bellarmine, but it's not the defining feature of the undergraduate experience the way it might be at a larger institution. Students tend to get involved through a mix of clubs, athletics, and service organizations alongside any Greek involvement.
