University of Wisconsin, River Falls - UWRF Overview

  About Greek Life at UWRF

Nestled in the St. Croix River Valley in western Wisconsin, UW-River Falls is a smaller campus with an agricultural and liberal arts focus — and the Greek system here reflects that character. It's an intimate community with a handful of chapters rather than a sprawling Greek row, which means membership tends to feel pretty close-knit.

On the fraternity side, you've got Alpha Gamma Rho and Theta Chi representing IFC. AGR is a professional agriculture fraternity, which fits right in with UWRF's well-regarded ag programs. On the Panhellenic side, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, and Phi Mu are the social sororities, and Sigma Alpha rounds things out as the professional agriculture sorority for women. There's no NPHC or MGC presence on campus at this time.

Because the system is smaller, recruitment here isn't the massive, highly produced process you'd see at a Big Ten school two hours down the road. It's more casual and personal. You're more likely to get to know members through everyday campus interactions than through a formal, week-long rush spectacle. That said, the chapters do hold recruitment events, and Panhellenic follows a structured process for sorority recruitment.

UWRF isn't a campus where Greek life dominates the social scene the way it might at larger state schools. It's one part of a broader campus life that includes club sports, outdoor recreation, and a tight-knit student community overall. Greeks here tend to be genuinely involved in philanthropy and service, which is consistent with the professional fraternity presence and the school's general culture. Chapter housing situations vary, and the Greek footprint on campus is modest compared to bigger universities in the state.

If you came from a high school where you heard a lot about huge Greek systems, UWRF's version is a different experience — smaller in scale, but the organizations here are active and connected to the identity of the campus.
