Shorts- definitely NO jeans or norts! Stick with khakis or other chino style shorts, I heard the shirts are purple this year so navy shorts or white would also look good.

As for independents -you will find some greeks here who fit the stereotype that TFM has helped give them. These are the types of people who make fun of "geeds". But there are also normal greeks who really don't care if you are greek or not! Greek life gives you a lot of opportunities to make friends with greeks so you will often see greeks together. But that doesn't mean all greeks hate independents.

Is a high necked dress with a lace material from Abercrombie formal enough for preference day?

I'd have to see the dress to know for sure but I don't see much from Abercrombie that I would consider formal enough for pref. I'd bring another dress and have your gamma chi pick the best.

Yeah I know but it looks a lot more formal than most abercrombie dresses and i thought it looked comparable to the dresses in the recruitment booklet but thanks for the advice!
