Pullman is a college town in every sense — WSU is essentially the whole town — and the Greek system reflects that. With dozens of fraternities and sororities spread across IFC and Panhellenic, plus a handful of other organizations, Greek life here is a genuinely significant part of how students socialize, especially in the first couple years.

IFC covers the men's fraternities, running the full formal recruitment process each fall. Panhellenic oversees the women's sororities and runs its own structured recruitment, which at WSU tends to be a pretty serious, multi-day process. There's also a presence from multicultural Greek organizations on campus, though the IFC and Panhellenic chapters make up the bulk of the system.

One of the more defining features of WSU's Greek scene is the housing. Most of the larger chapters have their own houses concentrated along a stretch near campus, which makes Greek Row a real, physical part of campus life — not just an abstract social category. That changes how visible the system is day to day. You'll know where the houses are, and they host a lot of the social activity, especially around football season.

Cougar football is a huge deal at WSU, and gamedays are woven into the social fabric for a lot of Greek chapters. Philanthropy events and community service are also part of the routine across most chapters — both IFC and Panhellenic have strong expectations around that, and chapters here tend to take it seriously.

Because Pullman is relatively isolated — it's not close to a major city — the campus social scene is pretty self-contained, and Greek organizations fill a big part of that space. That's true at a lot of rural flagship schools, and WSU is no different.
