Washington College is a small liberal arts school in Chestertown, Maryland, sitting on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. With a tight-knit undergraduate population, the Greek system here is smaller and more intimate than what you'd find at a big state school — but it's genuinely woven into campus social life in a meaningful way.

The fraternity side is governed by the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and includes Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, and Theta Chi. On the Panhellenic side, there are three sororities: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Omicron Pi, and Zeta Tau Alpha. There's no NPHC or MGC presence on campus right now, so the system is IFC and Panhellenic only.

Because WC is a smaller school, recruitment tends to feel a lot more personal than what you'd experience at a university with twenty-plus chapters. You're not moving through massive events with hundreds of people — it's more conversational and low-key. That said, the chapters here are active and visible on campus, especially during fall semester when recruitment ramps up.

Housing is part of the equation at WC. Several of the fraternities have chapter houses, which gives them a physical anchor on campus and a space for events and social gatherings. This makes Greek housing a real part of the campus footprint, not just an afterthought.

Philanthropy is a consistent thread across chapters here. Panhellenic and IFC organizations regularly put on fundraising events tied to their national causes, and community service tends to come with the territory at a school with WC's emphasis on civic engagement. The college's broader culture — small classes, close faculty relationships, a strong sense of community — carries over into how chapters operate here too.
