VCU is a large public research university dropped right in the middle of Richmond, Virginia, and its Greek system reflects that urban, creative, and academically driven environment. IFC rush at urban schools like this tends to be less formal than at traditional Southern flagship schools — expect interest meetings, events, and getting to know brothers before any formal bid process. Panhellenic recruitment follows a more structured format. NPHC chapters recruit on their own timelines through an intake process that's separate from formal rush altogether.

Philanthropy is a real part of the culture here. Chapters regularly put on fundraising events tied to their national causes, and there's consistent activity throughout the academic year. Greek life at VCU isn't the dominant social force it might be at a football-driven school, but it's an established and active part of campus with a solid number of chapters across all four councils and a community that's engaged year-round.
