cobs and snap bids

by: Droppedout

How likely is it to get a snap bid from a sorority that dropped you after philanthropy? Because i know people in that sorority and I had a great conversation, I’m pretty and I have a good gpa. I was shocked to be dropped. Does it help if you know people in the new pledge class?

Snap bid? Not likely. COB? Maybe. If they don’t meet quota even with snap bids. Be patient, bid day is hard but SO many girls find a home after recruitment. Just don’t accept a bid from a sorority that doesn’t feel right.

But also if you think you may like a sorority and just aren’t 100% sure, take the bid and see how it goes! You don’t have to be initiated

If you accept a bid you are excluded from COB and informal in the fall. So accepting a bid to “see how it goes” can be an expensive mistake. I’d wait.

Are snap bids given to girls who made it to house tours and then dropped? Or do I still have a chance if I only made it to philanthropy?

Usually to girls who made it to prefs, then house tours. It’s doubtful you’d get a snap but COB is possible if you let them know you’re interested and they don’t meet quota. Good luck!

Don’t most of the girl who made it to prefs write down that sorority on their bid card? So wouldn’t they be ineligible to recieve a snap bid?

You think you deserve something because you’re pretty? So someone less pretty doesn’t? I know this process is hard but you should be focused on other things. Please don’t be so shallow.

I said I had a good gpa and good conversations too. I also knew some girls in this sorority, I felt like I fit in. Don’t take what I said out of context we all know looks plays a part in sorority recruitment so let’s not deny it.

A LOT of girls don’t match during formal, it’s a flawed system. If you truly feel like you fit best at one sorority then stay the course and be patient. But don’t hope for a snap. Think COB or informal.

When does COB start? And how do I know if the sorority I want will even give out COBs, it’s upper middle tier. It’s just really hard right now to be patient because all my friends are gonna join sororities and I know I am gonna feel left out and excluded.

Bid day is the hardest for people who are dropped. But joining a sorority that doesn’t fit is even worse. I promise. My roommate joined a sorority where she didn’t fit in and dropped before initiation. She was then ineligible for COB or informal. It was hard to watch.

Can someone please clarify the Snap Bidding process? I thought Snap Bids are only given out up until the Bid Day activities at 3PM? Can a group give a Snap Bid out to someone as long as she hasn't opened her Bid Card?

I also thought that you can only SB up to Quota.

If you get two snaps, how long do you have to decide which invitation to accept?

There is still time to hear about snap bids, you just won't have the full two hours to decide what you want to do
