if you actually think greek life here will last...

Virginia Tech is slowly but surely returning to a Greek free campus and for what? We have one of the tamest and most community friendly Greek communities in the country and yet Tech only gets stricter and stricter without any major incidents to cause that (and we already have the strictest rules around). The worst part is that most organizations get in trouble for the BS of alcohol violations. Fraternity parties provide support systems and DDs that are much safer than random club’s parties or Pheasant run. Many other Schools acknowledge this and do not punish their Greek organizations for providing alcohol at parties. Anyway, check this out:
Current list of fraternities status and recent punishments
AGR- Deferred suspension through fall 18
KA- Deferred suspension (DS) through fall 18
Pike- DS through fall 2018
Phi Delt- DS through spring 2019, possible more punishment incoming
PiLam- DS through fall 2018
Sig Chi- kicked out this year
Theta Xi- DS through spring 2018
DKE- kicked out this year
DTD- kicked out spring 2017
Phi Tau- DS through Spring 2020
Phi Sig- DS through spring 2019
Delta Sig - DS through spring 2019
Lambda chi- kicked out spring of 2017
If you didn’t know, being on DS means you could be kicked out at any moment for any slip up.

SAE isn’t recognized by the school either. The school’s Student Conduct punishment process is unbeleivably black-and-white, and they’re that way with individuals too, not just fraternities. Its up to greek life to organize and work with the school to find a process that bears minimal liability. Time to adapt or die.
RIP Lambda, Sig Chi, SAE, and of course the OG Sig Ep
