by: Lucky6

If i were to drop the house I got a bid from and rerush next year, would there be a chance that I get a different house, or even any house at all?

the answer… maybe! sororities prioritize freshmen because it’s a 4 year member. you’re most involved sophomore / junior year. it’s not impossible to rush as a sophomore but the numbers are against you.

my advice? get through the new member period and do not drop until right before initiation if you’re still feeling this way. bid day is overwhelming. give it a few weeks, go on big / little dates, start making friends, and it might all start to make sense !! wear your letters on campus too you might have girls from your chapter in your classes and it’ll help you make friends and it’s a conversation starter. dropping after bid day is way too soon imo give it some time before you decide.

Your absolute best chance of getting a bid is as a freshman during primary recruitment. However, there are many girls who drop and then rush again as a sophomore and get the exact house they wanted as a freshman. Then there are other girls who re-rush and get a less desirable outcome, you just need to weigh the odds and decide what you are comfortable with. Also remember that you will miss out on a whole year of sorority life and you will rush with girls a year younger. Lots to consider, but do what is best for you!
Hoping others will add their perspective - both good and bad. Panhell love!
