If girls have dropped after DB one or DB two, then they were not rushing for the right reasons and were probably only looking to be in a high status srat. Those types of girls would never have stayed in the sorority for the full four years and so to be honest, it is good they have dropped. It means that there are more places for the girls who really want to have a sorority experience.

So, to the PNM’s still in it - You are about to find your forever home and have an amazing experience! Good luck and hang in there!

That information isn’t shared publicly. Also, when girls drop it just makes the pc sizes smaller, so it’s not like it makes the process less competitive.

That’s a really good point. TBH we could use smaller PC sizes anyway.

Are we blaming the PNMs for a system that is stacked against them with a high number of PNMs with so few houses? The system is flawed and it has horrible emotional impacts on these young women and telling them to stick with it and that MAYBE you'll get a bid even if it's not your fave seems like breadcrumbing and asking them to settle to me. Hopefully some of these women will get in there with ideas to help fix the system after seeing many friends drop out. Many don't see the potential benefits outweighing the risk. Emotional and financial.

The system is the same system as every other school. The PC size is proportional and is adjusted for the number of girls going through recruitment, so nothing is “stacked” against the PNM‘s. Barring schools with variable quotas, the higher the number of houses equals smaller PCs, it’s just simple math.

No one is saying they have to accept a bid. The issue I see here is if people are dropping out this early in the process then they have preconceived ideas of which houses they want and which houses they don’t and they are not giving everyone a chance. That’s all we are saying is to give houses a chance and at the end of the process if you would rather not be in a sorority than be in the 1 or 2 that you have left on pref, then don’t sign the mraba.

I don't know the answer, the math or how it all works but BP has an opportunity this next couple of days to sort through PNMs left, maybe take those PNMs that got only half or less invites back (maybe w a certain GPA to limit numbers and if matching the PNM number drop), drop their lowest ranked house and add back one of their higher ranked houses they didn't get an invite to for DB and give them an opportunity to get in front of recruiters and feel like they were seen during this process literally and figuratively. Or just make sure their highest ranked houses after DB are still in the mix going into Sisterhood even though it means more bodies than planned. Easier said than done and may not be doable at all but something, anything sends the message that BP is willing to correct a flawed feeling system (cut without ever being met because too many PNMs feels automated in what's supposed to be actual SISTERHOOD) and those that were willing to stay are getting this shot. Good luck to everyone.

To ??? - that is not how rush works, lol.

If girls have half of the houses left they should go to those 4-5 houses and see if there is a fit. Why should they automatically get a higher pick back on their schedule? They were evaluated on their grades, activities and video, that's standard with how the first cut works. Do some research on how rush works before posting such things.

Should high school seniors be able to say to Harvard - you rejected me, but I should get a second chance, so put me back into consideration because you never met me? lollllllll

The NPC recruitment process has been refined and refined over decades to offer as many bids as possible while maintaining equity among the chapters and keep the panhellenic system thriving. Some of you just don't seem to understand that the sororities are doing the choosing.

Your wanting a house and ranking them high is not how you get invited back. The sororities don't take pnm's ranks of the chapters into account when they rank their list of pnm's, they don't even see those ranks. And the fact that you did not get a full schedule back is not a factor either. When a sorority releases a pnm from their recruitment, that's their decision.

Sorority recruitment is not a sign up sheet for pnm's, the sororities are selecting their members from among interested pnm's. Sorority membership is a privilege not a right.

Also, as has been said on here before, the number of pnm's and the number of chapters has NOTHING to do with anything. Everything throughout the week is based on the number of pnm's still in the process and is adjusted at every round. There is no preset number of bids or invitations or anything. Your chances would be the same no matter what.

I agree with the above posts and unfortunately there is a mentality that pnm's get to pick houses. This process is really no different than a job interview in my opinion. Sororities choose members that they think are a good fit from a large pool of candidates. The bottom line is there is often a mentality with pnm’s that they are “too good” for a house and drop out of recruitment when they are dropped from houses that they percieve as higher ranked. This is very sad because it results in girls missing out all together on an amazing experience. Also, Boulder is sort of an anomaly in greeklife because so many girls are friends with girls in other houses and I don’t feel that there is a hierarchy that you see in other schools. Open to opnions on this.

The job hunting process is a great analogy!

The sororities are the companies and the pnm's are the applicants. pnm's submit their application and the sororities decide who they want to interview. Not all job applicants get face to face interviews and not all applicants make it past the first, second, or third round of interviews. At the end of the process, a sorority will offer their bids, and ultimately that's when the pnm's can decide to take them or not through their pref rankings and whether they accept the bid or not.

I know this process can be brutal, but this is the real world, welcome to adulting.
