Would Miami be open to a non-panhellenic

by: curious

University of Miami is known for its strong Greek life and vibrant Panhellenic community but there’s an opportunity to make campus even more inclusive by offering a sorority option that is affordable, accessible, and all-inclusive.

I went through Panhellenic recruitment myself, and while the experience was exciting, it was also extremely expensive which is why I dropped. For many students, the cost alone becomes the biggest barrier to joining a sisterhood, even when they deeply want the friendships, leadership, and community that Greek life offers. Why should anyone be priced out of sisterhood?

I would love to bring a non-Panhellenic, nationally established sorority to Miami that offers: All-inclusive dues, No hidden or surprise fees, No out-of-pocket event or merchandise costs, Flexible payment options, A strong focus on leadership, philanthropy, and sisterhood. One org I found offers $200 USD,

This would create an accessible pathway into Greek life for students who feel priced out of Panhellenic but still want a real sorority experience and lifelong sisterhood.

Miami is a campus built on ambition, leadership, and community. An affordable sorority option would empower more students to be part of something bigger than themselves, without sacrificing financial stability. It’s about expanding opportunity, not replacing tradition.
I truly believe this would thrive at a school like Miami and become a powerful addition to the campus Greek community.

Sorry I meant the one sorority I found costs $200-250 USD a semester which includes everything - a custom sweater, pledge pin, membership badge, swag, merchandise and all event costs too!!

It’s not going to be considered on par with the other Greek organizations. That’s just how it works.

But if people want to join and enjoy the experience, more power to you/then.
