PNM Rush Concerns
by: aubsie
I’m a oos pnm who is also Greek first generation. I’ve heard girls getting dmed by actives, but no actives have dmed me or very few even follow me. Should this be a concern that if I’m not on their radars I won’t get a bid from them?
My top houses are ZTA, Phi Mu, AGD, KD, Gphi, Pi Phi, ADPi
Are any of those sororities that have their pc list picked out before rush even starts?

Heyyyyy girl! I just wanted to let you know I am first-gen greek, and you should definitely come into recruitment with an open mind. i dont want to scare you at all, but you have to be realistic and understand that most of the time houses pick you not the other way around!! the houses you get back for philanthropy round are the houses that want you back and sometimes it’s not going to be your “top” house! I rushed as first-gen greek, and i was super worried that was going to set me back. however, that was not the case at all! but you have to understand that you need to come in with an open mind because coming in expecting a certain group of houses will set you up for disappointment.
there are over 2200 pnms rushing this years with many of them having active sisters/legacies from those houses. you are one of those 2200 girls! you are still just as important as any other girl, but it is definitely hard being on their radar if you don’t have an in house connection. i was probably dmed by maybe 4 of those chapters and although i talked to them, i didnt even make it to philanthropy round with one of the ones i spoke to. sometimes actives reaching out can be a good thing but other times it can disappoint you. if you know you arent being reached out by houses now, that means to just try your best in putting the best foot forward during recruitment! follow ALL sororities on instagram. not just the ones you want to be apart of. be confident, bubbly, and make sure your socials are public so actives can look you up!
the hard truth is, most of those chapters have an idea of who would go their chapter. the minute the next auburn class is posted, girls are checking social media and keeping them noted. i think saying their “pc picked out” is a bit of a reach though. yes, many of those houses have hometown tops that plan on going those chapters but things change. rush is crazy! you find a chapter you connect with more. there are also people who get a bid from those chapters organically without having any connections!!
if you have good grades, a good video, chatty, confident, and have a clean social media you should be okay!! but seriously come into recruitment with open mind and pls stay off this site! people can be cruel and harsh and that something you dont want to come into recruitment with the mindset of

You need to wait until Philanthropy to get your schedule and see where you're ACTUALLY rushing. The bid lists are certainly not decided but the invitation lists for Philanthropy definitely are before you get to campus. Pnm's do not go to Philanthropy at wherever they picked during ice water teas. The sororities do the choosing and they don't ever see pnm ranks of chapters at any round so that's not a consideration for them in membership selection. Please please please don't get your heart set on any of them until you get your Philanthropy schedule and don't focus on where you were released, look forward to where you are going!
