weight and rush
by: prettyinpinkI'm really concerned about rushing. I'm not a plus sized girl, but i am a size 8/10. Will this effect my success as a pnm?

To be honest, this may limit you as sad as that is. However, you will find the house that is the best fit for you so don't worry about it too much. I'm that size as well and during rush it was super stressful because I felt like I was only being dropped for my size when I really would've fit in with the sisters. It's sad how this works however I love the house I'm in and I wouldn't trade it for the world! good luck <3

I'm like a 6/8, so I feel ya. I was dropped from quite a few houses immediately, houses which I felt like I had a great connection with the girl I talked to and I am pretty sure my weight factored into it. That being said, I was invited back to quite a few top and top middle tier houses through preference, and ended up in a lower middle tier house (which was my 1st choice on my preference card). So weight isn't everything. Yes, some houses will be that shallow and it may make your cuts a little bigger than you want, but you should be OK.
If you're actually plus sized, I don't want to tell someone not to rush, but it will be difficult. So go in with an open mind, and don't be discouraged if a house cuts you.

This is coming from a size 00 girl in a middle tier house - the fact that weight counts for some top houses is AWFUL but true. I did NOT want to be part of a house that considered that as a strong deciding factor in choosing their sisters, and I am sure that you don't want that either. I showed up to some houses for round 3 and looked around the tent and realized every girl was stick skinny, and that's probably the only reason I was called back, and felt pretty bad about myself. Who wants to be a part of that? Frankly, if a house cuts you because of your weight - good riddance, you don't want to be part of their shallow, judgmental sisterhood anyway. Good luck with rush! No matter what happens, I hope you feel amazing and find a group of women who appreciate all the beautiful things about you :)

You didn't say how tall you are. If you are 5'1", then yes it will matter. If you are 5'10" you are right where you should be.
It's not just weight that matters. It's the overall appearance, including personality and confidence. Play up your attributes! I'm a 0-2, but have horrible hair, and stressed about that. Nobody is perfect!

this makes me really sad because a lot of girls are this average size and no one would ever guess it ! Skinny fit girls can be sizes 8/10 too! I'm tall and have a larger chest and hips so I obviously don't fit into smaller sizes in the clothing places we all shop at because they run small. Telling someone this size might factor into recuitment is stupid because we don't know how their weight is distributed. I'm not overweight or unhealthy and I got invited back to plenty of top tier middle tier and bottom houses and ended up at top tier house so it doesn't really matter. Yeah houses base some part of recuitment off looks but just because ur xyz size doesn't mean ur going to get dropped no one is checking ur measurements or tag size when u rush
