why does everyone hate sk

they’re the least exclusive sorority. anyone can get in. they socialize with bottom frats (less extravagant parties, not as cool guys). and the reason they’re dead last is because they have some of the worst attitude out of bottom tiers. my sorority went to announce there and they were so rude for absolutely no reason.

tbh when i went there for rush ifsb bc the girls rushing me were actually shocked that i was continuing the conversation and being pleasant :( they tried really hard to make it seem like they had a close sisterhood but i just didn’t get that from their girls. a lot of their girls are also not the kind of girls you’d expect to rush a sorority and don’t have that outgoing or bubbly personality so it was hard to talk to some of them.

after round 2, i didn’t see the point in paying expensive dues to sit in a mansion that felt empty, has weak sisterhood, only hangs out with like 4 bottom tier frats, and can’t really get you connected on campus like other sororities. sorry 2 say :/

i do think they are improving though, i just don’t think it’ll ever be enough to get out of “bottom tier”

Ok so my opinion on ranks is “bottom” sororities who let anyone join r tough because it’s a group of girls who may have nothing in common other then wanting to join a sorority. Sometimes it can be the same with “top” ones, only thing in common is being beautiful and in a top sorority.
Either way you will most likely find women in each chapter that could be your best friends, everyone is different and it will all be ok.
You will end up where u r meant to be

this site will have a bunch of different opinions but in reality, you have to decide for yourself
sigma kappa focuses more on academics and service involvement rather than frats, which drops their rank
they let a lot of people join but there are a lot of girls who chose it and had other options for sororities
the sisterhood is strong despite what others might say and the reputation is generally good, they just don’t meet the typical greek standards

Considered top at most schools

Really nice house (award winning) and girls seem very smart and fun. I know a lot of people who genuinely chose SK as their first choice after talking to other sororities during rush… it only honestly comes down to diversity, this is not a house of clones you’ll find a little bit of everything there and this upsets people… god forbid you have a sorority where everyone doesn’t look/act alike. Lots of traditionally beautiful girls but not everyone looks like Barbie (just most of them). I think people always have a hard time when you can’t put something neatly in a box… and let’s be honest SEC sororities are not exactly known for their diversity. I say it’s about time an organization like SK takes the lead and mixes things up a bit. When you’re interviewing sororities you’ve gotta go with your gut and find your right vibe, my friends who rushed this year gave me great advice which is don’t read anything online before you rush go in with a clean slate and open mind!

A beautiful house will not save them. They have a HUGE image problem . They need to change their image and socialize more with dryas and frats.

Look at Dg , they built a new hiuses. It did not change their image of being easy and sleazy. A new hiuses willl not save them either ,

Just rushed & I am honestly surprised at this thread (maybe outdated since post was from 2023)? SK was one of my top choices and I hadn’t heard anything bad about them. I did hear really bad things about several other houses which was off putting and I will not repeat since I think it is harmful to say unkind things about other girls (the whole point of this is to empower women right)? But SK never had a bad thing to say about anyone, they were very positive and everyone said great things about them too. They do have the legit nicest house and the girls I met were so kind and actually very funny and seemed laid back. I felt like I had the best conversations there. I dropped because the houses were all too expensive but would have definitely joined SK if I could have afforded it.

No one hates SK. Stop making drama when there is none.
