snap bids

by: Pnm

Got dropped from the houses that I liked and ended up dropping rush. I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight on snap bids. Like which houses usually offer snap bids, how to get one etc. I am a junior and I dont know that many people in sororities

My understanding is you can only get a snap bid if you complete the whole process. Since you have dropped out, you can't get a snap bid.

Is that also for people who were dropped from rush?

That’s incorrect.

If you drop before signing the MRABA you ARE eligible for Snap/COB but not Quota Additions

This is correct. Rules state that a pnm qualifies if she completed at least the first round before dropping or being dropped. You don't have to to through the whole process. But a junior is going to have an uphill battle getting any bid outside of formal recruitment. So sorry.

A snap bid is when you get a bid after you didn't pref there but still had houses you prefer at, a COB is a bid you get after recruitment, you can get it regardless if you were dropped. I'd maybe recommend talking to your friends in sororities about getting a COB and maybe ask the VP of recruitment if there are still spots, but it's gonna be doubtful. Most chapters meet their quotas during fall rush. Maybe rush in the spring when sisters either go inactive, drop, or graduate and chapters are needing to fill spots to meet quota.

As it’s been stated on this site many times, snaps are rare and spring rush is mostly lower tier houses. If a higher house does spring, it’s usually people that they know

Best chance is fall

It's so sad when PNMs drop out of recruitment. There are over 250 women in most chapters at UF. You would have found a supportive friendship group now matter where you landed. Plus you can always check a house out until initiation. If you are a junior, you probably blew your best chance to join Greek life. UF is an amazing place with lots of opportunities. I'm sure you will find another organization to become a part of. Don't count on Snap bids or COBs.

You’ve probably blown your chances of being Greek. Sorry but that’s the truth. You should look at other things to do on campus
