how narrowed down should my choices be by now

Hopefully you have eliminated a few that you think aren't for you. Now it's time to concentrate on the ones that you think are a good fit, and you're getting positive vibes from the guys. Ideally this would be no more than 3-4 fraternities. If you're down to two, you might want to add another one that you haven't been to yet, probably of a lower tier.
You definitely don't want to suicide.
