open letter to those who got bids

by: Was a pnm

Hey all
There are people on my floor crying as they only have two houses, crying so loud people can hear. If u were lucky enough to get bids please don't cry in front of us who were released. We can hear you, and you got something a lot of people did not get. I am going to the movies later today so I do not have to see everyone getting bids. Btw I do not have tats, was a cheerleader in high school and am thin, so this is a very sad day for me too.

Same girl, I was released completely so I'm going to the gym to avoid hearing anything about bid day. I live really close to sorority row, which has to do with the fact that I thought I'd be getting a bid. I'm going to try again in spring though and hope you won't give up either!

It is hard because everyone around me seemed to have got a bid. I'm going to stop looking at social media. I joined a bunch of things but I don.t now if I will always feel like I failed somehow.

Hey girlies! Also found out I got released. Trying not to be distraught about it but it's understandable when you invest so much time and money and something. I'm going around Gainesville (and maybe campus) trying a lot of good food and visiting some landmarks. This isn't the end of the world! We're all gonna be okay. :)

You are not missing anything. Really. I have been in my house for two years . I could have died and no one would care. I really wanted this house. The sisterhood sucks and they are cliques . I am not included. I am thinking about dropping . I was so excited about getting on. Now I could not care less. Stay life is over rated . Trust me

Just checking on you girls because I know it's bid day. Excitement and sadness all on one day. I'm happy for those who got bids, sad for those who were disappointed. A couple of decades ago (seems like a lifetime!) I was one of those who were disappointed on bid day. There didn't seem any logical reason why I didn't get a bid. It was unfair!

I decided Greek life wasn't for me. But as I got to know my university better, and some girls in Greek Life, I slowly changed my mind. I thought I'd give in another shot. This time I got a bid! Not from the sorority I was expecting, but what the heck, it was a bid. Preconceived notions and others' opinions faded into the background as I got involved in what it really meant to be in a sorority. These sisters of mine are still close friends, many years later. Weddings, reunions, all of it.

Keep an open mind and don't give up. It hurt at first, but was so much sweeter (and more appreciated by me) when I finally got in.

Keep your heads held high!

I did not get a bid last year either and as a sophomore I could have rushed again but decided not to. This pain will pass. I am really sorry that everyone is hurting. Your do not need a sorority to define uou

I felt we defined the sorority, not the other way around.
