my bf only got invites to 2 houses-please explain
by: bestie of PNMSo this is a super sweet girl who works with disabled kids and wants to go to vet school. We spent all summer picking out supercute outfits and she spent about 1000 on clothes. She listed on her panhellenic app that she wanted to go to grad school and already had an AA, she is really smart. But when she got to the houses, some STEM girls were paired with her, but others didnt have a clue what she was talking about or said you are super smart or very mature. This is cute girl, does not wear glasses, has cute clothes and was a cheerleader. She was devastated only 2 houses invited her back, and even the pi chi said i am surprised you are pretty and have cute clothes. Are you not supposed to mention you want to go to grad school? She had her hair colored blonde highlights for rush, but did not want to get breast implants just to rush. Can you please explain what you want?

maybe there was a computer error, or she has the rest of her invites tomorrow. or maybe for whatever reason the houses that dropped her knew it wouldn't be the right fit. it only takes one house since you can only join one. I personally got dropped from all but one after the first round. So I kept coming back and guess what? I found my home, and honestly it was nice to only have to do one party during the later round lol. this is UF - EVERYONE is amazing - but lots of girls get dropped. it's lucky that she wasn't one of them.

How do u know if there was a computer error? Also, were u a legacy at the only house that kept u?

There is no way of knowing why she was dropped based on one post. I highly doubt it was a computer error. Is she a Junior? Upperclassman quotas are different but very limited. I would encourage her to stick with the process and it only takes one. She should accept a bid and if she really doesn't like it, can drop before initiation. There are countless women coming on here saying they were concerned on bid day but really love their chapter after getting to know it.

Thanks advice. She has just turned 18 but would be a junior by credits, as she has her AA. She was told never ever to say she was a junior by credits, as that would be hated at UF. Since that was listed on her panhellenic app, maybe the houses can see it. She plans to stay at UF three to four more years, and told girls that but maybe they consider her a junior.\n\n\n\n\n

Why does it matter which ones? Also it would be better to state straight up on the panhellenic site or here we don't want juniors or non blondes etc whatever the preferences are. The houses list various charities they serve then do not care if they devastate young women. It would be better to state straight up what houses are looking for, rather than breaking peoples hearts. It's not just the rush cost, but getting to Gainesville early and the wear and tear of the rush process. Be more transparent on this site exactly what you are looking for in new pledges, not just endless posts about Zeta v DG. let me rank the houses for you.

Each chapter has confidential criteria, but you can assume they come down to things like "would she fit in here?" and "what will she contribute to our chapter?" Being already halfway done with college means fewer years to contribute, which is why her options are limited. However, it's not Panhellenic's responsibility ensure everyone has their pick of chapters, only to facilitate a mutually beneficial match. She still has houses in the mix and she - like any other PNM - should not disregard how special that is. Especially if GPhiB is in the mix, they may be very open to a junior given that they are a colony and will be looking for a balanced chapter in seniority. Just a thought. Best of luck to her.

Almost everyone entering UF is a junior by credit so I doubt she was dropped because of that, we can see if they are an actual first year even if they have credits completed. By the way ur making it sound is as if she was a try hard and gave responses to the chapter women of what she thought they wanted when in reality we just want a normal conversation with u to see if we can see ourselves or are other sisters sitting down with you at a dining table for lunch. Tell her to stick it out but at no means should u change yourself for a group of people to like you. That's how how girls end up being dropped because they come off as ingenuine and even the fakest sororities will drop u because of that

Tell her to embrace the chapters she has left. I'm sure there is nothing wrong with your friend. There are some unsaid recruitment rules you should be aware of such as no cursing. Or talking about boys and booze
