pnm rush
by: pnmHi I'm a pnm and recently found Greek rank. I've been doing research over the past few months but have questions about the process as a whole. I know that pnms are chosen in a democratic way by the sisters, but how do preferentials actually work? a pnm ranks 1,2, 3 and hopes to get their first or second choice but who decides amongst the sororities who will actually get that girl? What is a snap bid? Do you guys also have a way of ranking in order to try and make the best pc you can ?

Unfortunately none of the sororities nor PNMs understand fully how the Panhellenic bidding system really works (that's "the system") because it is encompassed by how each individual sorority does their member selection process. So you'll never really know, tbh. But please please trust the system because it really does work out in the end!
A snap bid is when someone who voluntarily dropped out of recruitment before prefs/bid day is extended a bid by a sorority so that they can reach quota. :)

Hello PNM! First piece of advice: read this post and then don't come back to the site. It's very toxic!
Second piece of advice: understanding preferencing. The way it will work is that each round, you will choose the chapters you'd most like to return to and rank the remaining chapters in order of which invitation you'd rather accept should you have space on your invite list. For preferentials, it's a little different, because you rank all the chapters you go to that round. Each chapter can take quota (or thereabouts), so if quota is 80, then each chapter will have a "first bid list" of about 80 names. Any woman on the "first bid list" who puts that chapter first too will get matched there. But some women will be on multiple chapters' "first bid list" so when those women match elsewhere, spaces open up for women further down the list. The computer keeps trying to stick you at your first choice chapter until your first choice chapter's pledge class fills up as it goes down their list. Then, it will try to match you with your second choice chapter just like it did with your first, and so on and so forth.
Good luck to you!
