Hello lovelies! I rushed in the spring last year and it blew. I rushed this year in the fall and got into a "top" house that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to get to know if I didn't wait till fall recruitment.(didn't rush my freshman fall) Spring rush is only a few houses and I really really urge you to wait to find your best fit. And the houses that are doing it normally only want a few girls and a few hundred show up. I got a bid from a chapter I was not interested in (great girls! Just not my fit, all the chapters have great girls keep that in mind) and was really discouraged and rejected it. BUT it worked out for the better!

I digress here's how it worked last year- there's lecture hall everyone sits in and they tell you which houses are doing rush. Then based on alphabetical order you're split up and assigned an initial house. You go there- some houses were a free for all just walking around talking to people. Others were more formal and one by one talked to you. It's about 3 hours for the whole thing. In my opinion not enough time to get a vibe for each and every chapter if you don't already know girls in it.

i'm a junior, I feel like this spring rush is my only real chance at joining a sorority since it'll be way harder to rush as senior in the fall next year and there isn't really a point since i'd be graduating so soon

Just interested, what chapter did you get a bid from when you rushed in the spring?

She could not have gotten a bid in spring or she wouldn't have been able to Rush again in fall. If offered a bid( even if you don't accept) you must wait one full calendar year before re- rushing.

You can be offered a bid but if you do not accept there's no limitations. I didn't accept because I didn't want to join the chapter. Learn yo rules

I'm pretty sure in informal recruitment you don't have to sign an MRABA, which is what makes the bid binding. If she didn't sign one, she likely would be able to rush again.

I haven't heard anything about spring rush for 2017, but I'm currently a sophomore and feel like spring rush is my only option at this point. I know not many people rush as juniors (besides maybe transfers) so this might be my only shot. Is that true?

If you see a sorority you’re interested in doing spring rushes go for it! But I rushed this fall as a sophomore, I’m in a top house, and all my friends in my pc are juniors!
Just don’t feel discouraged. Way more juniors than you think go through fall rush :)

Fall rush for juniors is definitely a viable option. You will not be overlooked for being a junior.

Rushing as a SENIOR is crazy. Whoever mentioned that, no. Just no.

Those of you that say you are in a “top house,” what is your definition of a top house? Just curious. :)
