rushing as a sophomore for the second time

by: Sophomore

So I rushed as a freshman last fall and had terrible luck and ended up dropping out Round three...is it worth it to rush again this fall? I just don't want to have a bad rush experience again but I also don't want to regret not joining a sorority...anyone else have this same problem and it ended up working out??!?

I recommend giving it a go. A friend tried rush freshman year and got dropped by every house. She was just too nervous as a freshman and came across as a disaster. Tried again as a sophomore and ended up a Pi Phi. If you try again and it still doesn't work out, at least you will not have to wonder about it and have regrets.

I rushed as a freshman and was so home sick, I could not enjoy the experience. I dropped out of rush after the second round. This was a big mistake as it made my transition to UF much more difficult. It wasn't until the spring semester that I felt comfortable here. However, during this time I met a lot of great people from a wide variety of chapters. I learned more about my independent self, who I was, what I aspired to be. When I rushed my sophomore year, I wasn't caught up in the tiers but was looking for a sorority I could connect with. The experience was much more enjoyable and while I didn't have a full party schedule every round, I found the house that was the right fit for me. Keep an open mind and you will too:)

same thing happened to me! only thing is, my horrible rush experience really affected me and i started off my freshman year with a lot of sadness and despair over the entire situation. I am really scared that the same thing will happen again and i will start my sophomore year feeling the same way i felt beginning of freshman year

I'm so sorry this happened to you. The thing is you really have to go in with an open mind. A lot of girls get their hearts set on just a few houses and when that doesn't work out, they drop out. A few will get dropped by every house or just have one or two preference parties. There really are amazing women in each house and you will find a friend group no matter where you land. If you really want to be part of greek life try again this year, I bet you will have better results because you are more mature. Take a bid to the house that is lucky enough to get you. Go to the bid day event and visit the house every day. Trust me on this. Good luck to you!

were you dropped by all houses or did you only have a house you didn't like for pref?? either way, i think you should reconsider trying again...if it hurt that bad the first time, I'm sure it will be easier to deal with the second time if it happens again
