rec letters for real

by: help pls

What's the deal with letters of recommendation? There's been several posts but nobody actually gives a real answer. Is it beneficial to have them/how much? Are they well received or do people think it's weird to get them? If you're a sophomore (like myself) would it help to have them (since typically freshmen are somewhat more wanted)?

Don't need them if you're pretty/nice/funny on your own

Would they help a third year rushing for the first time get a bit of a leg up? I have a cousin who was an aopi at another school and a my s/o's mom was a phi mu at UF back in the day and I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to ask them for recs.

I would! If it's not going to be too awkward/uncomfortable asking you might as well, it can't hurt. Don't freak out about getting them but if it's not going to be difficult might as well

they will not help you get into any house (except if you are a legacy to adpi then it will help you go back to them)

majority of sororities don't care but I know some KDs and ADPis who are legacies so make what you want of that.
