dropping
by: anonthis may be a stupid question but how will dropping my middle-tier sorority effect trying to get into fraternity tailgates, parties, etc. ??? does it matter if you drop your sorority and how do other greeks view you after? I want to continue having a social life which includes frat parties/guys and i'm not sure dropping is worth abandoning the exclusive invitations that come with being in a sorority especially at a school where greek life is so prevalent

Don't just stay in a sorority because you want to go to fraternity parties. That's not a good reason and is a waste of thousands of dollars. I have plenty of friends outside of greek life who go to just as many fraternity parties as I do. Boys don't really care as long as you're somewhat attractive.
The only relationships you will affect is the one with your sorority, who may view you differently after you drop. I think this is because some people take it personally when others drop.

In all honesty, it took me the entire year for me to finally feel like I fit within my sorority. It's just something that takes some people some time to get used to or make friends in. Not everyone feels like they perfectly fit for a while. Maybe you haven't given it a chance because you are so focused on the idea that it's not a good fit for you. I did the same thing and it restricted me. But, once I embraced my sorority, I found that I realized I had an amazing group of friends, big and her friends and I realized that I didn't need to be friends with each sister as long as I had a group I could connect to.

I didn't join to only go to fraternity parties I joined thinking I would gain so many friends but since joining at the beginning of the year I just feel like I don't fit in with my sisters. Thats why I was thinking of dropping. To me I like the idea of greek life and still want to be friends and interact with people who are involved in greek life but I ultimately think I just joined a chapter that wasn't a good fit for me which is why I would rather not waste the money. With that being said I just wanted to get an opinion on how the perspective would change if I drop considering the fact that I have heard of frats turning away from girls not in sororities.
