Lake Forest College is a small liberal arts school north of Chicago, right on the shore of Lake Michigan, and its Greek system reflects that intimate campus feel. There are a handful of active chapters here — a couple of fraternities operating under IFC and several sororities under Panhellenic — making this one of the smaller Greek communities you'll find at a four-year college. That's not unusual for a school this size, and for students who do go Greek, it tends to be a more close-knit experience than you'd get at a large state university.

On the Panhellenic side, you've got Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, and Kappa Alpha Theta. Alpha Kappa Alpha also has a presence on campus, representing the NPHC tradition of historically Black Greek-letter organizations. The IFC fraternities include Delta Chi and Lambda Chi Alpha. So the system covers a few different councils, even if the overall footprint is small.

Rush and recruitment at a school like LFC tend to be pretty low-key compared to what you see at big SEC or Big Ten schools. There's no massive Greek Row, and chapters here don't typically have dedicated chapter houses in the traditional sense. Social events, philanthropy work, and chapter meetings are woven into campus life without the same kind of physical infrastructure you'd find elsewhere.

Because the overall student body is small, Greek life is one social option among many rather than the dominant force on campus. Students here are generally engaged in athletics, arts, and academics in ways that spread social life across a lot of different groups. For the students who do join, chapters tend to do community service and philanthropy events that connect to broader campus programming. It's a system where members often know each other across chapters just by virtue of how small the school is.
