Lafayette College - LC Overview

  About Greek Life at LC

Lafayette College is a small liberal arts school in Easton, Pennsylvania, and its Greek system reflects that intimate campus feel. With a student body of just a few thousand undergrads, the chapters here aren't enormous, but Greek life still plays a real role in the social fabric of campus. A noticeable chunk of the student body affiliates with a fraternity or sorority, which means it touches campus life in ways that go beyond just the members themselves.

On the fraternity side, things run through IFC, with chapters like Delta Kappa Epsilon, Delta Upsilon, Phi Kappa Psi, Delta Tau Delta, and Chi Phi making up the active roster. Panhellenic covers the sorority side, which includes Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Pi Beta Phi. It's a solid mix of nationally recognized organizations.

Rush at a school like Lafayette tends to feel more personal than it does at a big state school. The campus is small enough that you probably already know people in these chapters before you ever formally go through the process. Fraternity recruitment typically runs in the fall, and Panhellenic recruitment follows a more structured format with rounds and preference events. Because the school is residential and tight-knit, a lot of social overlap happens naturally.

Housing is part of the picture here. Several chapters have houses or dedicated spaces on or near campus, which gives them a physical presence that shapes where people hang out on weekends. Greek spaces tend to be go-to spots for social gatherings, especially since Easton itself isn't exactly a college town bursting with off-campus options.

Philanthropy is a real component of the culture. Most chapters participate in fundraising events and community service throughout the year, which is pretty standard across Panhellenic and IFC organizations nationally. Lafayette's size means these events often have decent campus visibility even among non-members. The community here is smaller than what you'd find at a big SEC or ACC school, but it's genuinely woven into how a lot of students spend their time.
