University of Richmond is a small, private liberal arts school just outside of Richmond, Virginia, and its Greek system reflects that intimate campus feel. With a student body under four thousand undergrads, the Greek community here is relatively compact but genuinely woven into campus social life. A solid portion of the student body participates, which means Greek events and social functions tend to have real visibility on campus.

Recruitment for IFC fraternities generally follows an informal fall rush model, while Panhellenic sororities run a more structured formal recruitment process in the fall. Because UR is a smaller school, the rush process tends to feel more personal than what you'd see at a large state university. You're not just a face in a massive crowd — chapters get to know potential members fairly well before bids go out.

On the housing side, fraternities at UR don't have traditional off-campus chapter houses. Instead, they operate through on-campus lodges and dedicated spaces, which keeps Greek life more integrated into the broader residential community rather than separated out on a Greek row. Sororities don't have residential houses either, which is fairly standard for schools of this type.

Philanthropy and community service are a consistent part of chapter culture here, and most organizations participate in campus-wide events throughout the academic year. Greek life sits somewhere between being a dominant social force and one of several active social scenes on campus — it's noticeable without completely defining what UR looks and feels like.
