About Greek Life at JU

Jacksonville University is a smaller private school in Jacksonville, Florida, with an undergraduate population that sits in the low thousands — and the Greek system here reflects that intimate campus scale. IFC and Panhellenic both have a presence, with a handful of fraternities and sororities operating on campus. You won't find a massive Greek Row or a system that dominates every corner of campus life, but chapters here are active and connected to the broader university community.

On the fraternity side, IFC chapters include Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Panhellenic is made up of Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Delta Delta Delta, and Gamma Phi Beta. That's a solid mix of nationally recognized organizations for a school of JU's size.

Rush and recruitment here tend to be more relaxed than what you'd see at a large SEC or ACC school. Because the campus is smaller, the process feels a lot more personal — you're meeting people in tighter settings rather than getting shuffled through massive events with hundreds of other potential members. That also means chapters tend to know who they're recruiting pretty well going in.

JU is a Division I school that competes in the ASUN Conference, and athletics play a real role in campus culture — particularly sailing, which the school is well known for. Greek life exists alongside that, contributing to social life and campus involvement without necessarily being the centerpiece of the whole experience. Philanthropy events and chapter-run activities are part of the rhythm, and members tend to be involved across different parts of campus, not just within their own organizations.

Most chapters don't have standalone houses the way you'd see at larger state schools. Chapter life tends to revolve around on-campus spaces and university facilities rather than a dedicated Greek housing corridor.
