the future is off campus

OSU sends a list of all the off campus frats at the beginning of every semester, which does nothing bc people still rush them. The ones that matter are Ksig, Acacia, Apes, and Phi Psi. Phi Psi and Ksig have 0 national support whereas Acacia and Apes have national recognition. There are more off campus frats, but these are the ones that matter. Hope this helps

Frats that have national support are involved in philanthropy, service, and have access to school resources for the organization, such as renting out rooms for chapter, intramurals, etc. In the long run, they typically get better numbers for recruitment bc most kids don’t want to join an unrecognized organization. Off campus frats that have national support still coordinate with their nationals and have their dues go to nationals. Frats without national support use their dues almost exclusively to party, but can get in trouble with the legal system and the national organizations who don’t want them using their brand. For example, Phi Psi had their house until this past fall, but they were evicted out of their house, and is now being rented out to KDR. Also, many sororities nationals’ have a policy not to engage with off campus frats (even though they still do, just not for events like bar rentals or things like that). At the end of the day, both on-campus and off-campus frats can offer the sense of brotherhood many people want, but it’s about where you feel most welcomed that matters.
