A curious NJ legacy
by: osuhopefulAs a Theta and PiPhi legacy (mom = Theta, sis = PiPhi), was just curious what the chances are of ending up in one of those houses. Does being from NJ matter? Neither my mom or sister went/go to OSU.

All (I think, there may be one or two holdouts) sororities have abolished preferential status for legacies. So officially it doesn't help you. Unofficially, it can help - mainly if you have a sitting sister in the chapter (as on, she is an active in the chapter at OSU when you go through recruitment) or if your mom or grandma is VERY active as an alum.
So your chances of getting in to one of those two chapters is going to be down to you, and how well you vibe with them, and not down to any legacy status you may have.
Also, the other poster was correct - if you make it to pref, they want you and can see you as a member. That doesn't mean you have your pick though - there are only so many spots to go around, and you may still not get your first choice.

^^^ this. Whether they actually abide by it, meaning they don’t take it info consideration one way or the other is unknown. But I’ve known legacies that got cut over the past few years.
