Plymouth State University - PSU Overview

  About Greek Life at PSU

Plymouth State is a smaller public university tucked in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and its Greek community reflects that intimate campus feel. The system here is on the smaller side, with sorority life currently being the more active piece of the puzzle. There's no active IFC presence right now, so the sorority side is carrying the Greek flag on campus.

On the Panhellenic side, Delta Zeta and Kappa Delta Phi NAS are the organizations you'll find active at PSU. Kappa Delta Phi NAS operates as a co-ed national association sorority, which sets it apart from a traditional Panhellenic sorority model. Both chapters are relatively close-knit given the scale of the school, which means you're looking at a more personal membership experience than you'd find at a large state university with dozens of chapters.

Plymouth State draws a lot of students who are into outdoor recreation — skiing, hiking, climbing — and that outdoorsy culture tends to shape the social scene more broadly. Greek life exists within that context, so it's more of a niche part of campus life than a dominant social force. It's not the kind of school where Greek affiliation defines your social identity the way it might at a large SEC or Big Ten campus.

Recruitment at a school this size tends to be a lot more low-key than the formal rush weeks you see at bigger schools. Expect a more casual, conversation-based process where you're getting to know people directly rather than going through a highly structured multi-round event. Philanthropy and community involvement are typically central to what these chapters do, and that's pretty consistent with how smaller Greek communities tend to operate. Chapter housing arrangements at PSU aren't a defining feature of the system the way Greek Row is at bigger schools.
