Moscow, Idaho isn't a huge college town, but the University of Idaho has a Greek system that's genuinely woven into the fabric of campus life. UI is a mid-size public research university in the northern panhandle of the state, and for a school its size, the Greek community carries a lot of weight socially. A solid chunk of undergrads are affiliated, and the houses on Greek Row are hard to miss when you're walking around campus.

The system is split across a few councils. IFC covers the men's fraternities, and there are quite a few chapters represented — ranging from well-established nationals like Sigma Chi, Beta Theta Pi, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon to more ag-focused groups like Alpha Gamma Rho and FarmHouse, which makes sense given UI's strong College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Panhellenic oversees the sororities, with chapters like Kappa Alpha Theta, Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and several others. There's also multicultural Greek representation through organizations like Lambda Theta Phi and Sigma Lambda Beta.

Most of the major chapters have houses, and Greek Row is a real, physical presence on campus — not just an organizational thing. Recruitment happens in the fall for both IFC and Panhellenic, with formal Panhellenic recruitment following a structured process over several days and IFC running a somewhat more casual version. That said, some chapters also take new members in spring.

UI has a strong tradition of philanthropy events and Greek Week, where chapters compete in various activities and fundraising efforts throughout the year. The social calendar tends to revolve heavily around Greek-hosted events, especially given Moscow's relatively limited off-campus scene. Athletic events, particularly Vandal football, are a common backdrop to Greek social life in the fall. The community here has deep roots — some chapters at UI have been around for well over a century.
