Situated just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky University is a mid-size commuter-heavy school that's been steadily building its residential campus culture. The Greek system here is a real part of that effort, with both IFC and Panhellenic councils active on campus alongside an NPHC presence that includes several historically Black fraternities and sororities.

On the fraternity side, chapters like Alpha Tau Omega, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Pi Kappa Alpha, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Theta Chi, and Phi Kappa Tau make up the IFC roster, along with a few others. Panhellenic includes familiar national names like Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Delta Zeta, Phi Sigma Sigma, Phi Mu, Alpha Omicron Pi, and Theta Phi Alpha. NPHC chapters — Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho on the sorority side, and Alpha Phi Alpha and Kappa Alpha Psi on the fraternity side — round out the picture.

Because NKU draws a lot of commuter students and first-generation college students from the greater Cincinnati metro area, Greek life operates a bit differently than it would at a traditional residential flagship.
