If you have friends in sororities, it can happen. But it's rare and if you're coming in without knowing anyone it probably won't happen. It'll just be hard for you to connect with everyone.

If you are a guy it's almost pointless. Only some fraternities do fall rush and even then you would only have a semester as a brother before you are a senior. Most places won't even consider you anyway. I would only consider rushing if you plan on taking a fifth year and you stress this to the house you are rushing.
