question about fraternity bids

by: Freshman

If you're lucky enough to get a bid, how common is it to sit and wait a couple of days to make sure before accepting? Will the fraternity ever rescind the bid if you do that?

How a fraternity will react depends on the fraternity. Some fraternities immediately rescind if you sit and some fraternities will rescind if you don’t accept in the next day or two.

Based on my experience I sat on all my bids initially to see what my friends did cause I liked a decent amount of places. And even top houses won’t rescind bids. Make decisions within the next day or two and maintain contact with each fraternity/rush chair tho

to most, sitting means you would rather be somewhere else. if you don't accept within a day, not a good look

Frats will try to pressure u into immediately accepting. It’s a big decision taking a day is fine.

Sitting anywhere is cool. Talk to rush chair and make ur decision within 12-24hours. Some kids will get texted to get picked up for multiple bids just take ur time u don’t have to pledge the first place that grabs ya
