try hard?

I'm an incoming freshman who's hoping to join a fraternity. I know universally fraternities (or anyone, for that matter) aren't the biggest fan of the "try hard". The only thing is that I've been wearing Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines, Sperrys etc. since freshman year of high school. And I've been an outspoken Republican (who loves America, obviously) as far back as I can remember. If I came to rush with this attitude, would I be perceived as a try hard? Thanks.

Phi Delt is for you... they say they always dress like that, even before college, but look like biggest try hards. always in front of their house tryin to be cool, but look like tools.
