fraternity rush

Sophomore here from a school in the midwest. I'm looking to transfer and Miami Ohio is one of my top choices. I definitely want to rush but was wondering how much of a handicap it would be if I wasn't here first semester since I've heard that lots of fraternities first meet/invite out most of the guys who are interested in joining.
