tips for those rushing the upcoming rush?

What are the do's and don'ts when rushing for a fraternity to strengthen chances on getting a bid ? Just looking at the discussions the process comes off as pretty cut throat .

biggestthing is just get around first semester, and don't come off as a tryhard

First Semester:
-dont be an idiot, get the grades to even technically rush
-be real, don't get into it and worry about every single thing you do around guys in a fraternity
-show up to events
-meet other freshman, they will know guys in fraternities that you may not be familiar with
-don't try to make a brother look bad, for real

if you don't know anyone in whats considered a top tier fraternity then you pretty much have no chance at getting a bid unless you make yourself known first semester
