Colorado College - CC Overview

  About Greek Life at CC

Colorado College is a small liberal arts school in Colorado Springs built around the Block Plan — students take one class at a time for three and a half weeks — and that academic structure shapes pretty much everything about campus life, including Greek life. The system here is on the smaller side, with a handful of IFC fraternities and Panhellenic sororities making up the whole picture. There's no NPHC or MGC presence to speak of on this campus.

On the fraternity side, Kappa Sigma, Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), and Sigma Chi are the active IFC chapters. Panhellenic includes Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma. That's a tight-knit group of organizations relative to even other small liberal arts schools, so if you do go Greek here, you're getting to know your chapter members pretty well.

CC's overall campus culture leans independent and outdoorsy. The student body tends to be pretty individualistic — a lot of people are here for the mountains, the academics, and a less traditional college experience. Greek life exists and has its community, but it's not the dominant social force on campus the way it might be at a large state school. Plenty of students never engage with it at all, and that's pretty normal here.

Recruitment follows a more informal structure than what you'd see at a big SEC or Big 12 school. The Block Plan makes traditional semester-style rush timelines tricky to coordinate, so expect the process to feel a bit more relaxed and spread out. Chapters don't tend to have the massive chapter houses with Greek Row energy you'd find elsewhere — housing arrangements are generally more modest.

Philanthropy and community events do happen across the chapters, but CC's Greek scene doesn't have the kind of school-wide, calendar-defining events that dominate social life at larger universities. It's a smaller, more close-knit part of campus rather than something that defines the school's identity.
