Rush Score Help
by: ?Is it true that girls from your hometown give you a score during the first round? Know a few girls that don’t like me (i wasn’t in the wrong) and worried ill get dropped from those sororities bc of them
#1by: It's going to be okay
Maybe, maybe not. All sororities make their invitations and releases lists in the summer before orientation. Each sorority is given the maximum number of pnm's they can invite to Philanthropy based on the number of pnm's participating. The numbers are finalized after orientation and pnm's schedules are generated. All pnm's get a 'score' of some sort and those that rank high enough to make a sorority's cut off number will be invited back. GPA is the first reason for a release, resume and personal connections come next, and the pnm video is used as needed. Each chapter does it a little differently depending on their priorities and the numbers they are given.
With that said, membership selection is a chapter decision and the recruitment team runs it. No one member speaks for her chapter, but yes, if they really hate you and know you are rushing they could try to get you dropped. But maybe they don't really hate you and it's just a high school thing they have moved on from and they don't really care now; maybe they don't have much influence with their chapter (some members are not respected and therefore not listened to); maybe there is someone who also knows you and will speak on your behalf and counter those negative voices; maybe you get released not because of that but because you're just not the right fit in some other regard. Anything can happen during rush and pnm's are surprised every year.
I know you are worried but there is nothing you can do about how a sorority votes. What you can do is two things: first, don't mention this to anyone, including other pnm's or frat boys or whomever, just leave it alone; second, see what you get back for Philanthropy and focus hard on those chapters. They are interested in you! If you get one of the sororities back with one of those members in it then show absolute grace and confidence and let that past experience wash away, it no longer exists! Don't let ANYONE mess with your head (including yourself) to undermine your confidence in rush. And if those girls are still holding a high school grudge to that extent you really don't want to be in their house.
