Bradley University - BU Overview

  About Greek Life at BU

Bradley University is a mid-size private school in Peoria, Illinois, enrolling around 5,000 undergraduates, and the Greek system there has a pretty solid footprint on campus for that size. The councils include IFC and Panhellenic handling most of the traditional fraternities and sororities, plus NPHC and MGC chapters rounding out the community with organizations like Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Lambda Gamma.

On the fraternity side, IFC houses names you'd recognize from any major Greek system — Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Pi Kappa Alpha, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Gamma Delta, Delta Tau Delta, and several others. Panhellenic sororities include Alpha Chi Omega, Chi Omega, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Delta Tau, and Sigma Kappa, among others. It's a full-sized system by small-to-mid-size private school standards.

Rush at Bradley runs through a pretty standard IFC and Panhellenic process. Formal Panhellenic recruitment typically happens in the fall, and IFC recruitment is more informal and spread out. Because Bradley isn't a massive state school, the recruitment experience tends to feel more personal — you're not just one face in a crowd of thousands going through the same motions.

Greek life does carry weight in the social culture at Bradley. A meaningful portion of the student body goes Greek, and chapters are involved in campus events, philanthropy weeks, and intramural sports throughout the year. Many of the IFC fraternities have chapter houses, which creates a natural social hub, especially on weekends. Peoria isn't a huge college town, so the Greek social scene fills a bigger part of the overall student experience than it might at a school with more off-campus options.

Philanthropy is built into the chapter calendar — most organizations host or participate in annual fundraising events tied to their national causes. That's pretty consistent across both IFC and Panhellenic chapters and is a visible part of how Greek organizations present themselves on campus.
