You might or might not get the house you want, but don’t believe that fsu has any ‘bad’ sororities. They’re all big membership with gorgeous houses. If you want the sorority experience at fsu it would be a mistake not to join. You will have a great time in any of them.

As much as I understand, I don’t want to go into the process knowing I am going to be automatically dropped and not have a fair chance at each house

Honestly, only a small number of women have a "fair chance at each house". The rules are set up so that probably half of all the houses are eliminated after the first round. Panhellenic has their reasons and they think their way is "fair". Maybe it is. It might be helpful if someone from Panhellenic could come on here and explain how it works.

Not in panhellenic but here's the explanation:

FSU uses the same RFM process formulated by NPC as almost every single campus in the country. RFM eliminates the ability of sororities to carry pnm's that they know they aren't going to bid any farther into the process than necessary. That way PNM's can adjust their expectations. The sororities have to be realistic and decisive early in the process rather than later, so each is given a cutoff number for each round; PNM's above the cutoff get invited back, those below do not. This gives PNM's the courtesy of knowing where they stand as soon as possible so they can move on and give fair consideration to the sororities that are more serious about them. When a sorority has voted and decided, there's no point in keeping those girls for another round. A sorority that takes a PNM to pref HAS to have her on their bid list, so sororities are required to figure that out as soon in the process as possible and release PNM's as soon as they have decided.

Before RFM was instituted, the sororities would wait and wait and then drop most PNM's right before pref, leaving those girls with no options for a bid at all. And even the ones who went to pref could still be dropped because of something called 'cross-cutting' and not get a bid. Neither of those things happen any longer under RFM. More girls get bids now than ever before, and sorority membership has exploded.

FSU uses upper class quota for National Panhellenic Conference recruitment. Last Fall upper class quota was 37 for each sorority .Please check npcwomen.org for NPC recruitment information. I would encourage you to try it out. If you do not find a house you like you do not have to sign a bid card.

The About section on the website I mentioned has a link that is useful for sorority recruitment information.
