I'm an alum from 02 why are bad frats top now?
by: Wtf
The only frats that are good now that I recognize from when I graduated 20 years ago were Pike and KA/SAE. Groups like SigEp and Kappa Sig were at least mid so I'm not surprised they're higher.
Why are frats like PhiDelt or Beta so low? What happened to ATO, they were just as good as Pike was now I don't even see them ranked. Also how TF OX in the top of some of these ranks? They are very much down voted but still. when I went here they had a worse reputation than even people not in a frat. I'm just curious as my son goes here now and told me about this site and wanted to check it out.

I graduated in 21 and when I rushed OX was solidly lower mid all the sudden their presence on GR increases and they are a fake "lower top" frat. They aren't close top they just patrol GR more than most other frats. My uncle who went here said that SigEp was top in the 80s though so idk.

Definitely Interesting to hear how things have changed, but here’s why the rankings are the way they are:
Sig Ep, K Sig, and OX all benefited from a bunch of the top frats getting kicked off from 2016-2020. They were mid-upper mid before then, but were able to get good houses in good locations to establish themselves as top. OX has been in hot water recently due to getting in trouble with IFC, and a lot of SA allegations. This pushed them to mid/upper mid, but with good behavior they will probably be top again.
Phi Delt was kicked off I believe in that 2016-2020 time frame, and just came back fall 2024. They have done a good job at getting numbers since, but need to work on quality and getting a good house before they’re even considered mid.
Beta was considered upper mid, but they were the reason for getting a lot of frats kicked off from 2016-2020 so that they could “move up” in the rankings. That shot them in the foot, and led to them getting hated by the entirety of IFC. They have been able to recover a bit, but are still seen as pretty dorky, most likely because that is the type of person they attracted after being labeled snitches.
Other than that, we have seen frats like D Chi, Fiji, and alpha delt go from bottom to upper mid/mid. Sig Chi also came back relatively recently and was able to improve pretty quickly and is now considered mid-upper mid. Chi Phi was good before they got kicked off, but have struggled to recruit quality and are now lower mid-bottom. And Pi Lam also came back around 2019-2020, and has since established themselves as a relatively okay lower mid frat.
We have also seen a bunch of other frats come back/establish themselves in the past couple years, including but not limited to chi psi, ZBT, and delta Sig. all improving chapters, but definitely have a lot to work on.
The landscape definitely has moved a lot since 2016, but now the landscape seems to be a little more established, and we probably won’t see as much movement in the rankings as we have in the last 5 years

Sig Ep was definitely top tier in the 1990s and early 2000s till they got booted. They were more like SAE or Pike are now and had a big house on Copeland. When they came back they had to be a Balanced Man chapter - no drinking smoking or partying in the house. No pledging. They are definitely not like Pike and SAE anymore, just different.
