Why Self-ranking is Pointless
by: Think
1. People think whatever fraternity or sorority they are in is the best, because it is the only one that they know well from an internal standpoint, and people are primarily competitive. You are primed to believe that your group is the best group, because you are in it, and because you are paying to be in it, and must cognitively justify the expense.
2. There exist multiple fraternities and sororities. There exist multiple people within these multiple fraternities and sororities. These multiple people then come on to this site, and put their own group as #1.
3. The resulting comments are pointless, and all rejections to the primed person who proclaimed themselves as group #1 come from primed people who then say the other person is wrong abd proclaim themselves the new group #1.
4. The cycle never ends, and a true, agreed-on answer never emerges, because an answer does not exist - only a never-ending quest to try to find something that cannot be calculated, in the form of an online self-ranking thread.
