FSU Only allows a certain - very low - number of official, organized social events each year. This really limits what kind of events we can throw. In the fall, it essentially leaves us with enough events for all of the home tailgates, two date functions, and one large semester party.

Now of course, most fraternities have off-the-books events but you’ll only be invited to those if you know someone in that chapter fairly well. That’s just how it is here because of the ridiculous rules the admin shoves down our throats.

Hi! So to answer your question we used to be able to have mixers and frats have multiple themed parties before fall of 2017. Unfortunately the hazing incident that happened in fall of 2017 that ended up in a pledge losing his life led to Greek life being shut down and make a “new normal.” This new normal included limiting the amount of alcoholic social gatherings each Greek organization could have to try to prevent this tragedy from ever happening again. We are still allowed to have socials but most sororities and fraternities choose not to because it would use up one of their events they are allowed per semester. Hope this answered your question!
