California State University, Dominguez Hills - CSUDH Overview

  About Greek Life at CSUDH

CSUDH is a mid-size commuter-heavy campus in Carson, California, sitting in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County, and its Greek system reflects that commuter culture — smaller and more close-knit than what you'd find at a traditional residential flagship university.

The councils represented here include NPHC, which covers the historically Black fraternities and sororities, and MGC, which covers the multicultural and Latino-focused organizations. That mix makes sense given CSUDH's demographics — it's one of the more diverse CSU campuses, with a large Hispanic and Black student population, and the Greek organizations on campus reflect that. You'll find chapters like Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho alongside Latino-founded orgs like Lambda Theta Phi, Phi Iota Alpha, Sigma Lambda Beta, and Gamma Zeta Alpha. Phi Sigma Sigma represents on the Panhellenic side.

Because so many students commute and work while enrolled, Greek life here functions differently than it does at a big residential campus. Chapters tend to be smaller, and membership is genuinely community-driven rather than social-scene-driven. Recruitment isn't the massive production you'd see at a UC or a large private school — it's more personal, often built around interest meetings, community service events, and word of mouth.

There are no chapter houses to speak of, which is pretty standard across the CSU system. Events and meetings happen on campus or off-site, and chapters make their presence known through step shows, strolls, and philanthropy work rather than house parties or Greek Row gatherings. Stepping and strolling culture is a real part of the social fabric here, especially for the NPHC and MGC organizations.

The overall Greek community is on the smaller side relative to the total student body, so if you go this route, you're looking at an intimate experience where members tend to know each other across organizations.
