Creighton University - CU Overview

  About Greek Life at CU

Creighton is a mid-size Jesuit university in Omaha, Nebraska, and its Greek system reflects that identity pretty well — present, active, and woven into campus social life, but not the kind of all-consuming scene you'd find at a Big Ten flagship. The IFC and Panhellenic councils both operate here, covering the fraternities and sororities respectively. There's no NPHC or MGC presence to speak of, so the system is squarely focused on those two councils.

On the fraternity side, you've got Phi Delta Theta, Phi Kappa Psi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Beta Theta Pi, and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Sororities include Delta Delta Delta, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Theta Phi Alpha, and Alpha Phi. That's a solid number of chapters for a school Creighton's size, and most of them are reasonably established on campus.

Rush and recruitment here are pretty standard for a smaller private school. Panhellenic runs a structured formal recruitment in the fall, and IFC chapters tend to do a more informal rush process. Because Creighton isn't a massive state school, the process feels a lot less cutthroat — you're more likely to actually get to know the people in a chapter before you commit.

Creighton doesn't have a traditional Greek Row, and most chapters don't have residential houses the way you'd see at bigger schools. Social events happen in other spaces, and the chapters tend to be more integrated into the broader campus community rather than operating in a self-contained bubble. Philanthropy is a real part of the culture here — consistent with the school's Jesuit mission around service, chapters regularly organize events tied to their national philanthropies.

Socially, going Greek at Creighton gives you a clear entry point into campus life, especially as a first or second-year student. It's not like you're on the outside looking in if you're not in a chapter — Creighton has a strong overall campus culture — but Greek organizations do carry a noticeable presence at campus events and in student leadership.
