Meaning not on the interfraternity council right?? If so then yes, a lot of times they have more freedom to operate exactly how they want. They generally have a lot less rules to follow, so naturally they can be a lot more fun!

I think you mean independent fraternitys. And the answer is that it is completely up to you, and what your looking for. Picking your fraternity is like picking a family, it is one of the most personal choices you can make. In my experience, IFC fraternities are generally closer to the very original fraternities ever formed, in that they are focused on creating men of scholar. On the hand, independent fraternities are the "fun" fraternities. They're the ones that the movies are made out of.

Here's the breakdown.
If you want to party throughout college without ASU threatening you with "unregistered events" go OFC. They pull. They can do pretty much anything. Sororities still come around idk why kids are saying they can't at all. What are we in junior high trying to say what you can and can't do?

IFC benefits.
Intramural with other fraternities.
Philos
And socials.

I wish I was ofc lol tired of ASU trying to threaten us with sanctions for every noise ticket we get.
